Malignant peritoneal mesothelioma 
Peritoneal Mesothelioma is a malignant tumor arising from the lining of the peritoneal cavity and pericardial effusion. Primary tumors from the peritoneal mesothelioma are extremely rare. An accurate diagnosis of diffuse peritoneal mesothelioma is important because it is almost always fatal. In many cases, malignant peritoneal mesothelioma is not diagnosed before surgery or autopsy. The distinction of malignantperitoneal mesothelioma from metastatic tumors of serous membranes are often made on the basis of histochemical studies.
The most common symptoms of malignant peritoneal mesothelioma are shortness of breath, chest pain, or both. Other symptoms include weight loss, fever, night sweats, cough and a general feeling of failure, but these symptoms are not so frequent.
The standard treatment for malignant peritoneal mesothelioma not curative. Aggressive treatment to allow some patients experience long-term survival, but it remains unclear if overall survival will be profoundly altered by treatments or different combinations of treatment. There are various treatments available for malignant peritoneal mesothelioma, according to state their diagnosis. In a first phase, which is located peritoneal malignant mesothelioma, the standard treatment are malignant peritoneal>mesothelioma, intracavitary mesothelioma, intracavitary chemotherapy following resection.
For stages 2 to 4, that is advanced malignant peritoneal mesothelioma, treatments available are symptomatic treatment to include drainage of effusions, chest tube pleurodesis, or thoracoscopic pleurodesis, palliative surgical resection in selected patients, palliative radiation therapy, single-agent chemotherapy, and multimodality clinical trials.
To date, there are no treatment approaches that have been shown to improve survival or control symptoms for a period of time. But with advances in technology and medicine, there is hope that one day doctors will be able to overcome the tumor and leave with some life-saving treatment against this terrible tumor.
