  • Epithelioid mesothelioma
    accounts for 50% to 70% of all mesothelioma cases. Due to its slower growth and greater responsiveness to treatment, epithelioid mesothelioma has the best prognosis of the three subtypes of the disease.
  • Sarcomatoid mesothelioma
    accounts for 10% to 15% of all cases. Sarcomatoid mesothelioma is a more aggressive form of mesothelioma and has a poorer prognosis than the other two subtypes.
  • Mixed mesothelioma
    accounts for 10% to 15% of cases. Mixed mesothelioma has characteristics of both epithelioid-type and sarcomatoid-type mesothelioma, with survival rates lower than those of epithelioid mesothelioma.
